There are approximately 12 staff residences which require a major if not complete renovation, as well as multiple medical buildings. Volunteers may also assist with fixing water sources, electric lines and power generators that are in place but have not been well maintained. Most of the work is in the form of masonry and carpentry, without optimum conditions or facilities.
Background Information: Egbe Hospital was founded in 1952 by SIM (Serving in Mission, a non-denominational Protestant mission). It is strategically located in the small town of Egbe in Nigeria on a major intersection between the cities of Ilorin and Lokoja in Kogi State. Over the years, the hospital has become a multi-service medical complex with an affiliated Nurses Training School, Midwifery School and Doctor's Postgraduate Residency Program.
Over time the physical structure of the hospital has deteriorated and efforts are underway to provide structural repairs and upgrades to the facility. Samaritan's Purse is partnering with SIM to revitalize this hospital that shares the Gospel with so many.
